There’s places to go, people to impact, and an ongoing to-do list. We live in an era  of packed schedules, unrealistic commitments, failing relationships, upside-down finances, and impaired health. No wonder it’s easy to be overwhelmed and overdone, feeling pressure before the day has begun, and stretched beyond the limits.  It just gets to be “too much.”

We need to understand that when we are overwhelmed with the “too much” of life, we’ve entered a battle against darkness as the enemy of our soul targets us, attempting to steal the gift of the day away.

The book of Job in the Old Testament details the battle.  The enemy of life and light went after Job, targeting every area of his life:  It all became “too much” for him. But. Job received wise advise—written in an awesome way in the Message translation:

Job 5:8-16 lays out the advice to go to God, expecting more than can ever be imagined.

Job intentionally and willfully changed his perspective to win the battle.  He chose to step out of the power of the darkness and to step into the presence and power of God. The battle is won when we move out of the darkness into the light.  These steps lighten the The load, giving a place to see more, reclaim hope and move forward.

First things first.

There must be an awareness of the battle when there’s “too much” to manage.  To win the battle, strategic and proactive steps must be taken to focus on God, giving space for margin.

We’re able to maximize the day living to the fullest, when we are not overwhelmed or overdone in the battle of too much.
